Let me just say this - Edie Spence Rocks! She is probably one of the most relatable characters I have read in this genre. You absolutely feel like you know her, and you can relate to her work life, as a nurse, her love life and everything else in between... that is.... if you had vampires and other creatures that were a part of your life. Other than that, she seems just like you and me. She is sarcastic, and funny, and very real. Having gone into the medical profession, she wants to save lives if she can, and she uses her knowledge as a nurse to do so, several times.

Edie has been kidnapped by the Vampire Raven, but she's almost sure she is going to be saved.....eventually. The only problem is she has to make sure she stays alive and keep herself and her unborn baby safe until then. In the mean time she has to bow down to Raven, who is now her master, since he gave her blood when she was dying. Raven didn't do it out of the goodness of his undead heart, he did it to take favor and to have power over his nemesis, the living Vampire Anna, who is a friend of Edie's. Anna has been a part of all of the books from the beginning and in this book you're not really sure if she's good or bad. Are the stories about her (she's know as The Beast) true? Can Edie safely rely on her to save them?

Asher is pretty much missing in this book, however the book has so much fast action that you don't miss the romance. A few times I found myself skimming just to make sure Edie was going to be alright. Then going back to read the paragraph again, once I knew she was safe. Pretty silly, since she's the main character and it's told by her point of view, but that is how involved you get with her plight.

I have followed Edie from book one, but have heard that this is the last installment. It ended with too many unanswered questions for that to really be the case, but if so, I'll be extremely disappointed. If you haven't picked up this series, do so now, starting with book one. Nightshifted

Bloodshifted Edie Spence Cassie Alexander 9781250037954 Books Reviews

I started with the 1st book in the series on Thursday. Couldn't wait to read the next four. I have now finished all five books. I
had to find out what happened to Edie and her friends/enemies. I really enjoyed the premise, characters and storyline line in this series. I hope there will be a sixth book in the series.
I hope Ms. Alexander has more Edie Spence books after Bloodshifted. It was a great addition to the "...shifted" series, but there are SO many plotlines waiting for resolution! What happens with Anna? With Gemellus? Does Edie have her baby? Will she become vampire? Do Edie & Asher finally get married? Do the Shadows reunite? There need to be at least 4 or 5 more books in this series!
I love this whole series! I'm curious what twist (or twists) the author has mapped out for the next installment. This particular story is more mystery/suspense than the previous one, (which seemed like a romantic/comedy/suspense-at least to me!) The nurse in me is satisfied that the medical terminology was correct. Again, these stories have caused interesting debates on if-then! Great job!
It's quite unfortunate that this is the last book in the series as this book sets up an even more intriguing world for the characters to explore. Hopefully the publisher will relent and allow Cassie to continue the series even if it's in a short to bring all the character's fates to the eyes of the readers.

The book starts immediately after the end of the previous story and continues Eddie's story along with dealing in her "captivity" and trying to keep her and her new reason for living, her unborn child alive long enough to be rescued. We get a more indepth look at how a vampire's "family" is run and how not all vampires are alike personality wise.
This book takes up right where the last one left off, with Edie in the hands of Raven, the vampire who answered Anna’s call to save Edie’s life by giving her his blood, healing her and giving her some of the vampire’s strength and endurance, which makes her a Daytimer. Unfortunately, this also puts Edie under the control of Raven, who can order her to do anything at all and she will be compelled to obey. She just needs to survive and keep her baby safe until Anna can come for her, and she’s determined to do that, no matter what. She’s all alone in this vampire haven, but she makes some unlikely allies, including some of the familiar Shadows and an unknown vampire that is visiting her dreams and asking her to rescue him. Then there is Natasha, another Daytimer, who’s experiments might be able to give Raven the upper hand over Anna, which doesn’t bode well for Edie. I loved the way Edie fights for herself and her unborn baby, doing whatever it takes to get out of the situation and get back to her life with Asher. I’ve really enjoyed this series and I’m sad to hear that Bloodshifted will be the last book. Although there is a bit of a cliff hanger ending, it was satisfying in that it wrapped up that story arc, but I’d really like to see what happens next to Edie and friends. I hope the author is able to produce more books in the series with another publisher or perhaps independently.
The thing that I have always liked about the Edie Spence novels is that the heroine isn't the end all and be all of beautiful women, not catnip to vampires who have been painting her face from a dream from centuries past, she doesn't have extra special powers--until this book, and even her new found powers don't make her into the most powerful of her kind. She is a reasonable, smart, snarky Urban Fantasy loner heroine without all the dreck that slowly turns every Urban Fantasy heroine into a Mary Sue version of herself. What makes Edie and the series special is that she makes stuff happen for herself (rescues herself most of the time) while still having a love life and making fresh twists on Urban Fantasy tropes. My minor nitpicks are that minor characters seem to shift a little bit away from being badasses or as gray as they were in the other books, and/or relationships are magnified where perhaps they weren't as close as is being described. The book definitely ends on a cliffhanger, and I would love to see a continuation of the series.
