A couple of Sabbaths ago, Carlos was on call and Sunny was leaving to Korea next morning... so we ddecide to go to the beach with a group of ladies. We went tidepooling to Corona del Mar... We saw beatiful creatures and discover even more about their behavior just by observing them in the water. It was an uplifting experience... The experience that was not uplifting at all that day was the traffic coming back, it wass awful!. So I made my mind, no more Sabbaths at the beach, at least not during rush hour traffic. Praise be the Lord, my Creator, for the works of His hands!

One day in Sea World

Going to Seaworld was a blessing for all of us, not because of the loud music of some shows or the human display, but because of those enormous creatures just dancing in the water. Sunny loved the pinguins interaction. Carlos enjoyed the Dolphins discovery, Gemalli wanted to touch every touchable creature: rays, dolphins, etc... and she was quizzing us about what spiritual applications we drew from these animal behaviors. I was so blessed to sea the Manatees dancing around having only paddlelike front flippers and a horizontally flattened tail to propell themselves!. They are so big and so vegan!! :) We came back home late that day after stopping at P.F Chang's to eat. It was a humblying experience for me recognizing what a Creator God I have!.

Dany&Rosemary Wedding

This was the longest wedding in the history of the world!!! My goodness!!! We started at 2pm and ended at almost 10pm. Wow! Dany and Rose you guys are troopers!. Dany was Carlos' rommate before we got married and we have been going to the same church for years. Their love story is a long one, almost 9 years long, with many ups and downs, but with God in the center finally bringing these two lives together. They are perfect for each other and I pray they allow God to do mighty things between, for and through them. Rin came to the wedding from Colorado, so the weekend was doubly blessed. Carlos was the MC at the reception and he did not know what to deal with the 2 hour-long Mariachis' show... I heard some people say that this was the longest and funniest wedding ever. We pray for you guys...

Endocrinology Meeting in Toronto, Canada.

In the beginnig of June Dr. De Leon, the Principal Investigator in the breast cancer lab I've been working at for a year; Dr. Sharda Vyas, the post-doc at the same lab; Angelique, a PhD, MD student; and I went to Toronto to participate and present part of our research at the ENDO Society Annual Meeting. Toronto is a beatiful city, very clean, and with a fresh and mild climate. Sharda and I presented our poster on Monday and participated in several symposiums and presentations during that day. After the meeting we went to visit downtown and on Tuesday we were at the CN tower, contemplating the city from the world's tallest building (1,815 ft.)

Even though that day was scorching hot, we celebrated as never before God's faithfulness in leading all our friends to the completion of their carrers and the begining of their "healing ministry". Graduates in the School of Medicine 2007 class: Jason Shives (Family Practice in Florida), Aaron and Sally Sartin (Family and I think Preventive here) , Thore (ENT I don't know where) , Ralph (Preventive Medicine here at Loma Linda) , Ana Gomez (Psychiatry in Kentuchy), Eli Kim (Family Practice in Florida) , and Matt (I think in San Diego I don't know doing what) . Going to Argentina after 3 years was an amazing adventure and blessing at the same time... After almost two years of prayer Carlos finally got to meet my dad... our expectations were humongous and God was, once again, faithful!. We were in my beatiful country for 9 days. First, we visited my family in Cordoba and then, we when to northeast part of the country to visit my "spiritual" family at the adventist university. We ate good Argentinian food and got to rest a little bit. Enjoy the pictures... they tell the story during those days very acuretly.

Ezekiel's Wheels

Anne and I were talking about Ezekiel chapter 1 the other day. I've been reading and trying to understand the book of Ezekiel a little bit better... chapter one is not a good beginning. I've been trying to imagine the wheels he talks about and the significance of that. Finally Anne sent me a good EGW quote and my eyes were opened. I just want to share with you the beatiful message of this chapter, especially of these wheels...

Ezekiel Chapter 1:

15Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.
16The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
17When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.
18As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.
19And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.
20Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
21When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
22And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.
23And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.

24And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.
25And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.
26And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
27And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.
28As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

Comments about Ezekiel chapter 1:

Upon the banks of the river Chebar, Ezekiel beheld a whirlwind seeming to come from the north, "a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the color of amber." A number of wheels intersecting one another were moved by four living beings. High above all these "was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone; and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it." "And there appeared in the cherubims the form of a man's hand under their wings." Ezekiel 1:4, 26; 10:8. {TA 137.2} The wheels were so complicated in arrangement that at first sight they appeared to be in confusion; yet they moved in perfect harmony. Heavenly beings, sustained and guided by the hand beneath the wings of the cherubim, were impelling those wheels; above them, upon the sapphire throne, was the Eternal One; and round about the throne was a rainbow, the emblem of divine mercy. {TA 137.3} As the wheel-like complications were under the guidance of the hand beneath the wings of the cherubim, so the complicated play of human events is under divine control. Amidst the strife and tumult of nations, He that sitteth above the cherubim still guides the affairs of this earth.--PK 535, 536. {TA 138.1}

Divine Power Gives Success.--In Ezekiel's vision, God had His hand beneath the wings of the cherubim. This is to teach His servants that it is divine power that gives them success. He will work with them if they will put away iniquity, and become pure in heart and life. The heavenly messengers seen by Ezekiel, like a bright light going among the living creatures with the swiftness of lightning, represent the speed with which this work will finally go forward to completion. He who slumbers not, who is continually at work for the accomplishment of His designs, can carry forward His great work harmoniously. That which appears to finite minds entangled and complicated, the Lord's hand can keep in perfect order. He can devise ways and means to thwart the purposes of wicked counselors, and those who plot out mischief. {4BC 1161.1} Those who are called to responsible positions in the work of God often feel that they are carrying heavy burdens, when they may have the satisfaction of knowing that Jesus carries them all. We permit ourselves to feel altogether too much care, trouble, and perplexity in the Lord's work. We need to trust Him, believe in Him, and go forward. The tireless vigilance of the heavenly messengers, their unceasing employment in their ministry in connection with the beings of earth, show us how God's hand is guiding the wheel within a wheel. The divine Instructor is saying to every actor in His work, as He said to Cyrus of old, "I girded thee, though thou hast not known me" (RH Jan. 11, 1887). {4BC 1161.2}
God's Organization Let God's workmen study the sixth chapter of Isaiah, and the first and second chapters of Ezekiel. {TM 213.2} To the prophet the wheel within a wheel, the appearances of living creatures connected with them, all seemed intricate and unexplainable. But the hand of Infinite Wisdom is seen among the wheels, and perfect order is the result of its work. Every wheel works in perfect harmony with every other. {TM 213.3} I have been shown that human instrumentalities seek after too much power and try to control the work themselves. They leave the Lord God, the Mighty Worker, too much out of their methods and plans, and do not trust everything to Him in regard to the advancement of the work. No one should fancy that he is able to manage these things which belong to the great I AM. God in His providence is preparing a way so that the work may be done by human agents. Then let every man stand at his post of duty, to act his part for this time, and know that God is his instructor. {TM 213.4}

In conclusion... God is in control... If someone out there struggles with that reality and blessing some times... This is for you...

God's faithfulness

Isn’t that a miracle? After 3 years of many tears and uncountable prayers God has opened the door. During this past year I have been drawn closer to God than ever before. Isn’t this the whole purpose of our trials? Each morning in my prayers I claim the promise of Psalms 37:3-5 and Romans 4:20,21. I never really prayed to get into Medical School, because God knew my desires but I, on the other hand, did not know what His plans were. Instead I prayed for God to change my heart if Med School wasn’t His will for me. And guess what? When I was starting feeling comfortable with the idea of not having what I desired so much, God simply gave it to me. My high GPA, my excellent letters of recommendations, my experience as a nurse, my experience in research, nothing seemed enough to balanced my low MCAT score. I retook it, I studied like a complete nerd and I left it in God’s hands… apparently that was the only prerequisite missing: Trust. By the grace of God I had two outstanding interviews. I felt the spirit of God leading me as I answered each question for those 2 long hours. Twenty days after my interviews I got the news and I couldn’t stop crying… Even now I can’t understand why me... I feel so powerless in light of such a high calling!!!…

American Association of Cancer Research

It was the first time in my life participating in the AACR. It was an unique experience. I would describe it in few words: Thousands of people passionate in their work against cancer. My mentor, Dr. Sharda Vyas, MD, PhD and I presented a poster with our recent data: "Pro-IGF-II and m-IGF-II differentially mediate Resveratrol-induced downregulation of Survivin and apoptosis of MCF-7 breast cancer cells." (whatever that means, ah?...hahaha!) I participated in many plenary sections and in several presentations that opened my understanding as never before about what cancer research really means. I admire Dr. Vyas a lot!... Thank you for teaching me so much Sharda!
